Rather than considering the environment as being hostile to human comfort, Novasim considers it as the potential source of human comfort, and seeks a symbiosis so as to preserve it for future generations. We take advantage of natural energy sources, such as the wind and the sun in order to obtain adequate and pleasant living conditions and ambient comfort (temperature, humidity, healthiness, lighting, etc.).

In the early design phases, Novasim works collaboratively with architects and design offices to validate the concepts and strategies of passive designs using numerical modeling and simulation. This will result eventually in more sustainable building designs with better performance and reduced energy consumption.

Typical energy-efficient design methods assessed are: the natural ventilation, daylighting & sunlighting, solar shading, thermal performance of façades, stack effect, thermal bridges etc.
