Emergency Pressurization
Like the Stack Effect effect, the Emergency Pressurization study is important for any tall building in regions with extreme weather conditions.
The main aim of the study is to derive the differential pressure at the doors of pressurised zones, such as staircases. There are strict regulations for the range of acceptable differential pressure on these doors, in order to eliminate the chance of smoke entrainment within the main evacuation paths, but also to not exceed the maximum force required to open the doors. This is completed with set of mitigation measures and sizing of relief valves, openings, and optimising supply rates, etc.
